One-Year Anniversary of First Voice and Primera Voz

On October 2nd of 2006 First Voice made its debut, the very next day Primera Voz premiered. More than 200 shows later, the programs are still going strong. Fittingly this past Monday’s and Tuesday’s shows featured the participation of Radio Arte’s newest students. The class of 2007 will be participating further in the programs and working alongside the volunteers/mentors that currently donate their time and talent every week.   First Voice and Primera Voz is Radio Arte’s flagship news magazine program. More than a radio program FV/PV is a forum where youth speak-out on what they experience in their community. Through news stories, first person narratives, commentaries, interviews and discussion, both reporter and listener alike are encouraged to then engage in civic dialogue, and further, become empowered to promote social justice.   Tune in to First Voice and Primera Voz, Monday through Thursday from 6 to 7pm Support for this program:

First Voice-Primera Voz es un programa que reporta noticias, crea segmentos, perfiles e historias culturales. Es un foro de expression donde la voz de los Latinos y otras personas de color pueda expresar su cultura y hablar sobre temas de actualidad.  It’s a forum where Latino and other voices of color can express their respective cultures and speak on a number of current issues. La realidad que frecuentemente ven ignorada o distorsionada por los medios de comunicación comerciales.
